About Me
My name is Tim O the Piper, and for more than thirty years I have been sharing the timeless and stirring sound of the Highland bagpipes. Growing up in Lemon Grove, California, my journey with the pipes began in high school, where I had the privilege of learning under the legendary Pipe Major John Rosenberger. His mentorship not only gave me the foundation for my piping but also instilled in me a lifelong passion for carrying on the Celtic tradition. From those first lessons in school, the pipes have taken me on an incredible journey filled with music, heritage, and community.
Over the years, I’ve had the honor of performing with some of the most respected pipe bands, including the Helix Highlanders, the Cameron Highlanders, and the Gordon Highlanders. Today, I’m proud to be a member of the Hugh O’Conor Memorial Pipe Band, where I continue to hone my craft under the guidance of another renowned Pipe Major, Len Wood. Playing alongside talented musicians and leaders like him has deepened my understanding of the music and sharpened my skills, while also reminding me that the true strength of piping lies in the people who carry on its traditions together.
Along this journey, I’ve competed in Highland Games nationwide, performed for King Charles III, and even had the privilege of taking the stage at the Lorient Interceltic Festival in Brittany, France, one of the largest and most celebrated gatherings of Celtic culture in the world.
What drives me most, however, is not just the tradition of the bagpipes, but the people I meet along the way. The pipes may be the instrument, but the real magic comes from the connections I’m able to make — standing beside families at weddings, honoring loved ones at memorials, or celebrating with communities at festivals and gatherings. For me, piping is about being present in some of the most important and meaningful moments of people’s lives, and helping to give those moments an unforgettable soundtrack.
Beyond the music, I pride myself on being professional, reliable, and easy to work with. I know that when someone invites me to play at their event, it’s often one of the most personal and significant days they will ever experience. I take that responsibility seriously and do everything I can to ensure the music is seamless, respectful, and heartfelt.
The bagpipes are more than just an instrument to me — they are a tradition, a calling, and above all, a way to connect with people. Every performance is an opportunity to share in someone’s story, to bring comfort or joy, and to carry on the Celtic spirit one tune at a time.
